SEED PRIMING AND EXOGENOUS APPLICATION OF SALICYLIC ACID ENHANCE GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY OF OKRA (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) BY REGULATING PHOTOSYNTHETIC ATTRIBUTES

Low and uneven germination is a serious problem for the successful production of okra seedlings. Priming seeds as well supplementation different plant growth regulators exhibited better response in seedling which eventually results higher yield. Therefore, present study was conducted to evaluate effects seed priming exogenous application salicylic acid (SA) on development. The were primed by 1 mM 2 SA 60 minutes whereas washed several times with distilled water control treatment. Similar doses have been exogenously sprayed 12 days seedlings 4 days. revealed that enhanced percentage (GP), increased coleoptile length weight, shoot root length, vigor index (SVI). Similarly, relative content (RWC), contents chlorophyll a, b, total while dose (2 mM) degraded leaf pigments. Supplementation altered photosynthetic attributes, net (Pn) transpiration rate (Tr), stomatal conductance (Gs), use efficiency (WUE). Moreover, treatment reduced time duration flower bud initiation first flowering yield per plant. this indicated productivity regulating RWC attributes where more effective compared SA.
